FAQ

  • If I send you a draft, can you offer feedback on my story?"
It's great that you are following your dream to be a writer. However, we are unable to read drafts, provide specific manuscript feedback or suggest ways in which it might be improved. That's the role of manuscript assessors and those who offer critiques. We are also unable to respond to manuscript feedback queries by phone. We will only read submissions that a) are sent when we are open for submissions; b) are submitted following our submission and formatting guidelines; and c) are a polished, publication-ready manuscript.
  • How much is shipping?
Our shipping fee vary depending on whether you want your order tracked or not, and whether you live in Australia or not. Within Australia: $6.95AUD for untracked shipping via Australia Post or Sendle and $9.95AUD for tracked shipping - using either Australia Post or Sendle. For individual overseas orders, we print on demand via overseas printing houses and the rate is capped to $9.95AUD.
  • If I post my manuscript, will you send it back?"
As per our submission guidelines, we require submissions to be emailed. We cannot return posted submissions.
  • Which shipping methods do you use?
We currently use a combination of The Parcel People, Sendle and Australia Post for shipping to ensure we can keep postage costs to a minimum. For more information, see our SHIPPING AND RETURNS page, found in the footer of the website.
  • Who do I contact about vanity publishing or self-publishing?
Serenity Press is no longer offering vanity publishing packages. However, we recommend Karen McDermott for your self-publishing needs.
  • I ordered several books but they haven't arrived. What's happened?
If you order multiple books and one is either out of stock or a pre-order, your full order will be held and sent when all books are available to keep postage to a minimum. If you would rather receive some of your books earlier, you will need to make separate orders and pay for postage on both counts.
  • I own a bookstore and would like to stock your book. What are your trade terms?
We would love to work with you! Please see our Trade/Distribution page for our trade terms or contact us for more information.
  • How do I submit a pitch or manuscript to Serenity Press?
Congratulations on working so hard to share your story. To submit your manuscript or make a pitch, we need you to check our submission guidelines first. Just click here for more information. If your submission meets the guidelines, submit them here.
  • The submissions page says you're not accepting pitches, but I really think you'll like mine. Should I go for it?"
Congratulations on working so hard to write your story. Unfortunately, because we are working hard on publishing, writing and editing, we are not able to read your submission if you send it unsolicited or out of open submission windows.
  • Is Serenity Press a traditional publisher or a vanity publisher?
Serenity Press began as a vanity publisher but has now transitioned into a traditional publisher.
